Thoughts on where I'm at

The snowflake outline progresses. I'm nearly done with the bit where you write a one or two sentence summary for each scene. This weekend I should be able to get started on the extremely detailed scene by scene summary outline this weekend. Hopefully I can get most of it done in one weekend and can then put it in a folder until September.

Then I want to work on another couple of outlines and do some worldbuilding in August. I also need to get to work on "The King's Head" soon. I'm going to be a busy little bee in August.

I'm a little disappointed I didn't get the editing on "The Sundered Light" done, because I'm not sure I'm going to get any done in August either. The more I look at it the I think a total rewrite may be in order rather than just an edit - but that may just be my lack of self-confidence talking.

And I'm having one of those periods when I'm deluged with ideas - most of which will never see the light of day, because once I examine them they're lame ducks. It's good to have ideas of course, but it's annoying sometimes when I'm trying to work on one thing and my brain is interrupting with other ideas.

Anyway I'll give a fuller report on my thoughts on July at the end of next week.

Ah, yes, the muddled muse, where she launches out about 80 ideas, 70 of which suck; 5 of which are retreads of something I just did; 2 of which, aren't too bad, but are in a series and can't be written for a few years; and 2 are awesome ideas that probably wouldn't interest anyone but me; and 1 which I really like...but I was kinda working on something else at the time.

This is a good sign that I need to take a break and relax until the muse stop sounding like a female version of Speedy Gonzalez.

*Laughter* it could be that.

I think she's just bored of working on this outline for so long and wants to move on. Fortunately my inner editor is helping out and currently has her arm twisted up her back while saying "Finish the outline".

I dunno, I'd avoid twisting her arm too hard. I've often found that when I do that, those are the whole sections that have to be scrapped during revisions. I read them over a month or two later and say, "Holy crap, what moron wrote this dreck? Oh lord, this is all me!" (O.O*)

When I'm twisting the muse's arm, it's not really her giving answers, it's me staining for answers, twisting her arm and shouting, "Will this work?" And she says, "Meh, whatever."

Which makes this further proof that torture is ineffective and creates bad information and false leads. =^P

Oh she's already given me all the information - she just doesn't understand why it's taking me so long to organise it.

The inner editor thinks it's a great idea on the otherhand because she's lazy and foresees less work this way.
